    Sphärische Klänge und singende Melodien laden zum Träumen ein.
    Auf seinem Debütalbum
    Light on the surface (Unit Records, 2023) verwandelt Schlagzeuger Simon Chmel zusammen mit seinem Quartett persönliche Gedanken und Gefühle in musikalische Geschichten.
    Dabei verweben sie akustische Instrumente mit elektronischen Elementen und bringen sie in eine feine Balance. Bewusst konzentrieren sie sich auf das Wesentliche und schaffen so Klarheit und Transparenz. Durch ihr gegenseitiges Vertrauen entsteht eine Intimität zwischen energetischem Spiel und Fragilität. Gemeinsam bringen sie die Musik zum Atmen und Schweben.

  • „Unscripted“ – CloudyaH, Amelie Tobien and Jess Blijkers

    „Unscripted“ is back! The recurring concept initiated by CloudyaH and Jess Blijkers sounds like the start of a joke: „three songwriters walk on to a stage.“ The artists have no pre-defined sets, they simply respond to each other’s songs with their own,
    creating a spontaneous narrative and acoustic flow that can only happen on the night. As this edition’s special guest, the hosts have invited the singer songwriter Amelie Tobien, whose haunting ballads and intimate storytelling have made her a powerhouse of the Austrian folk scene. A truly unique evening you won’t want to
    miss!

    For those who don’t know WBU:
    West Belt United is a Vienna-based collective of musicians dedicated to solely improvised groove music.
    „Groove Club“ is one of the oldest sessions in town (15 years now)!
    Every second Thursday, musicians and music lovers meet after their concerts and jam together late into the night.
    And if you just want to listen, you’re very welcome to enjoy this amazing music.
    WBU is THE after-hour jam session in Vienna. It starts at 22:00, and you can play until 3:00.
    And even the openers are completely improvised!

    So grab your instrument and join! Learn from the best musicians in the city and network within the scene.

    After Five präsentiert ein Programm, das eigene Kompositionen mit ausgewählten Werken des zeitgenössischen Jazz und Fusion verbindet. Im Mittelpunkt stehen klangliche Vielfalt, rhythmische Raffinesse und das lebendige Zusammenspiel der Musiker. Mit Offenheit für unterschiedliche stilistische Einflüsse und viel Raum für Improvisation entsteht ein Konzerterlebnis, dass sowohl die individuelle Handschrift der Bandmitglieder als auch ihre gemeinsame musikalische Vision hörbar macht.
